Stuart Public Library
For those that love Sherlock Holmes or want to learn more about the character the Stuart PALS (People Active for Library Services) is hosting a presentation.
A member of the Sherlock Holmes Societies in US and Canada Monica Schmidt says she will give a 60 minute presentation at the Stuart Public Library about the literacy and pop culture of Holmes. Schmidt explains that in the event she will look at the many aspects of the character.
“He’s synonymous with the term detective. When we think of Sherlock Holmes, we think of detectives. We have an image that pops into our mind. And, you know, the question is, where did that image come from? Did it come from the stories? Did it come from some specific adaptation? Did it come from how these things became associated with the character Sherlock Holmes?”
The program is free and open to the public from 11am-noon this Saturday with light refreshments available.
