A check of the Greene County High School baseball roster from the recently completed season shows the 13 players that finished the season with the most varsity playing time were all multiple-sport athletes including the rare five-sport athlete. Many were also involved in other activities in and out of school.

Ram head baseball coach Matt Paulsen talked about a school the size of Greene County relying on students to be multi-sport athletes. “We want our kids to be involved in as much as they can be involved in, as much as they want to be involved in. That’s especially true when you have good athletes, good kids that are hard workers that represent Greene County well. Those are the kids we want involved in all of our activities.”

As far as what’s left for activities, Greene County is done, but the 2022 State Softball and State Baseball tournaments continue through this Friday. Class 1A and 2A baseball is in Carroll with 3A and 4A in Iowa City. All five classes of softball play at Rogers Sports Complex north of Ft. Dodge.
