When the season concluded this year in the second round of regional competitions for the Panorama Panthers Softball team, there was one senior who played her last game as a Panther.

This year’s team featured a host of young players on the field with just one senior on the team in Grace Webner who wore number #15 for the Panthers. Webner finished her career with numerous hits and RBIs along with putouts and homeruns. Head Coach Kylee Boettcher says heading into this season Webner knew the team would feature a young core but she was ready for it.

“Grace is a very, very special athlete for so many reasons. One yeah being the lone senior on a young team where your year’s past have had a lot more wins at the end of a season but having talked to her before the season even started she was like ‘Coach I know what it’s going to be and I just want these girls to have fun and we do our best and be good teammates’ and I said ‘That’s absolutely what we are going to do’ and we are probably going to win a couple games along the way.”

Boettcher tells Raccoon Valley Radio Webner brought a lot to the team and Boettcher says she is excited to watch as Webner’s career continues.

“She is kind of that quiet one but she will always go out there and give you her best. She’s just one that we are definitely going to miss her and what she brought to the team.”

While her time has officially came to an end as a Panorama Panther Webner will continue in her education as well as her softball career when she heads to Iowa Central Community College in the fall and continues her time on the diamond for the Tritons.
