Greene County High School softball pitcher Emma Hoyle saw a meteoric rise in her strikeout numbers this season. The junior has been the Rams top pitcher since she was in eighth grade and as a junior in 2022, Hoyle posted 230 K’s, compared to 109 a season ago. The number of wins for Hoyle also went up as she posted a 13-12 record this season for the 13-13 Rams.

Head coach Tom Kennedy talks about his senior-to-be pitcher. “She threw hard for an eighth grader, but it’s just not the same deal. She’s picked up the speed and then her movement pitches are very good, and she’s always had very good movement pitches. But I think the thing that’s kind of changed things is she’s got an off-speed pitch now that lets batters know she will throw that and it’s kind of been the key to the breakout, but she does throw the ball hard.”
