The 2022 Adair County Fair wrapped up with five days of events on Sunday.
This year’s fair had plenty of fun activities to enjoy including many 4-H/FFA shows, contests, concerts and much more. To kick off the fair, Erin Ford from Fontenelle was named the Adair County Fair Queen. Ford says that every little girl dreams of being the Adair County Fair Queen.
“It means a lot to me because I grew up here as a kid. My siblings were showing and I was a little baby and my parents grew me up around cattle around here, and I found my love for cattle here. So it’s just a great feeling to be the fair queen of such an important place to me.”
The runner up for the Adair County Fair Queen was Madison Cartens. Another highlight on Saturday was a new event for the fair that was called the Show Stock Buddies Livestock Show which gave the oppetunity for individuals who have intellectual or developmental disabilities to display pigs, goats or sheep at the show ring with a 4H or FFA mentor. Show Stock Buddies Livestock Judge Ben Schmaling
says this event was incredible to see the participartants shine while showing livestock.
“You know, really, it’s about inclusiveness and just affording opportunities to those who otherwise would think that something like this is impossible, that they don’t they can’t show livestock if they have certain obstacles that they face.”
The Show Stock Buddies Livestock Show had roughly 15 individuals showing livestock to a packed Mid American Areana. Results from the Adair County Fair can be found here.
