If you are looking for some family fun entertainment this weekend, the City of Grand Junction has you covered.
Grand Junction Fun Days kicks-off tomorrow evening with the beer tent from 4pm to midnight, as well as a carnival from 6-10pm at the former school property. Additionally, there will be musical entertainment with the Danny Grause Band from Ames to perform from 8-11pm. Co-organizer Linda Hoffman says tickets can be purchased on site for the carnival and people can watch the band for free outside of the beer tent, which has a $5 cover charge.
Then on Saturday is a full day of festivities. Hoffman says the day begins with the parade at 10am. The route will start at the former bus barn, to Hager Street, then to 9th Street before ending at the swimming pool. A petting zoo will take place near the library at 10am, followed by the Grand Junction Lions Club Car Show from 11am-2pm and food vendors open at 11am, both at the city park. Then the carnival will be open from noon-4pm and 6-10pm, along with a dunk tank and a cornhole tournament. Saturday wraps up with the beer tent open from 3pm-midnight with Standing Hampton to perform from 8pm-midnight.
Hoffman notes pre-sale tickets for the carnival for Saturday evening can be purchased through tomorrow from any of the Grand Junction Fun Days Committee members. Cornhole tournament teams can also register with a $50 fee for a team of two and the top three will receive cash prizes.
Sunday finishes out the three day event with a pool party from 1-3pm, with free hotdogs, chips and drinks.
Hoffman talks about her favorite part of planning this event with the committee, which she wants to keep as an annual tradition, following the town’s sesquicentennial three years ago.
“I feel, and I think everybody else will to, that we enjoy just the group of the 12 of us getting together, brainstorming ideas, coming up with different fundraisers. And then just also coming together as a group and community and seeing everybody pitch in and help out. All just to have a great time for a long weekend.”
