Dallas Center – Grimes fall athletics will be having their first practices of the season today, as they will be looking to make a positive mark on their portion of the season.
Football had a rare losing record with a 3-6 mark in 2021, but will be returning some key players this year. They are under the direction of experienced head coach Scott Heitland. Boys cross country was able to win their third state championship in a row and will be aiming to get their 4th this fall. The program is coached by Matt Pries. Girls cross country was able to get a 3rd place finish at state last year and has key runners back this year. They are coached by Justin Droppert. Volleyball had a rare losing season under Cheryl Voelker, but do have a lot of young talent in the wings as they gear up for a new year.
It should be a fun 2022-23 year for Mustang athletics, as they will look for a good first week of practice.
