The Guthrie County Arts Council is looking to bring a new mural to downtown Guthrie Center.
Board Member Phyllis Wakefield says that this mural would incorporate many aspects of Guthrie County that include the history, county fair, state parks, agriculture, Lake Panorama and other landmarks. She says this new downtown mural will be designed to attract more tourism.
“We have this road that goes straight through a lot of trucks. You know, and so we would kind of like to get people to stop and to shop and to look for a while instead of just going right straight to town.”
She says if they get the funds to create this mural it will be displayed near the Dollar General and City Hall. The Guthrie County Arts Council is holding a fundraiser called the Chad Elliott Concert on August 21st at the Guthrie Center Activity Center with a free will donation that will go towards the downtown mural.
