The Stuart City Council met on Monday night.

The Council did not take action on the nuisance violation on Meaghan Hike’s property on 419 Sherman Street. Hike was cited for too many toys on her property along with high grass and weeds. The Council made it known they can’t enforce toys on a person’s property and will address it with their third party code enforcement at another time.

The Council approved a proposal to enter into a general obligation fire truck acquisition loan agreement and to borrow money to not exceed $290,000. They approved a renewal of a development agreement with the All Saints Center to provide financial assistance, request to close Northeast 2nd Street on September 8th, annual road use report, 2022 Street Improvement Project on South 6th Street, authorizing issuance for $245,000 taxable general obligation, two ordinance amendments  and the renewal plan amendment with Iowa Collision and SLK Holdings. The Council also approved the Stuart Best of the Block BBQ Committee.

Finally the Council set public hearings on September 12th for rezoning a property and the financing for a new fire truck.
