As Greene County and Kuemper Catholic prepare for their Friday football clash at Carroll Athletic Stadium, it’s clear these are two quality teams. Both are 2-0 and both can score points. Greene County owns a 20-14 victory over Class 1A top 10 ranked ACGC and 61-0 over 4A Perry. The Knights have a 34-12 win over Class A Logan-Magnolia and a 37-22 victory vs. 3A Atlantic.

Greene County has shown the ability to both run and throw the ball on offense with junior quarterback Gabe Ebersole throwing for five touchdowns and running for two more in the early season. Tight end Jesse Miller has four touchdowns already, three on pass receptions and another on a fumble return. On defense, the Rams are piling up the tackles for loss at a rapid pace led by All-State defensive tackle Michael Rumley. Add in kickoff returns for touchdowns in each of the first two games by Richard Daugherty and Camden Strennen, plus one of the areas top kickers in Nathan Behne, and it’s a balanced Greene County team that poses numerous issues for the opposition.

Friday’s game in Carroll can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 6:20 p.m. and kickoff at 7 o’clock.
