The City of Perry is searching for someone to come in and help with marketing the City.

At their most recent meeting the Perry City Council approved a job description and pay range for a marketing and engagement coordinator position for the City. City Administrator Sven Peterson says this is a position that has been worked towards for a few years.

“Right now, a lot of our marketing and engagement communications is kind of spread out between multiple people in multiple departments so this is an effort to bring that all into one position that can kind of make sure we have one voice communicating out, also shifting some duties, taking some duties off of people.”

Peterson tells Raccoon Valley Radio the hopes are to have someone hired within the next couple of months as Peterson says he is excited for the position.

“First thing in that first year (is) really looking to them to help us develop a marketing and engagement plan so that they have a guidebook of what they are needing to be doing on a day to day basis as well as really establishing what that job is. To me the fun part of new positions is the opportunity for that person to really be able to shape the job, shape what that person does on a day to day basis.”

Peterson says he hopes the person will be able to help elevate the communication to the public of some of the things going on in the City. The Council approved the position on September, 6th and the pay range for the position is $45,000-$55,000.
