Greene County cross-country has had four meets this season and two of them have been in the three previous days. The Rams were at Story City yesterday for the Roland-Story Norsemen Invitational. Coach Jeff Lamoureux’s boys’ team finished seventh in a 12 team field while the girls did not have enough runners for a team score.

North Polk (Alleman) won the team title for boys with 24 points and Nevada was next with 72. Ogden had 119 with 124 from Bondurant-Farrar, 158 for Madrid, 177 by South Hamilton (Jewell), 178 for the Rams, followed by Southeast Valley (Gowrie) 189, R-S 231, Woodward Academy, 247, and Saydel (Des Moines) 297.

Noah Hinote led the Greene County boys with a 28th place finish in 18:19 for the five kilometers (3.1 miles) with Gavyn Winters 31st in 18:51, Ethan Frederick 37th in 19:02, Kolby Angell 51st in 19:34, and Bork Ersnes 62nd in 19:55. There were 163 boys in the race.

Olivia Shannon was the highest finishing Greene County girl. She was 23rd in 22:21, with Autumn Stevens 50th in 24:42, and Ava Jablonski 66th in 26:22. There were 71 girls in the field.

Coach Lamoureux told Raccoon Valley Radio, “This is traditionally a fast course and conditions were pretty good. We had several PRs (person records) in both boys and girls and are making tremendous progress. ” Norwegian foreign exchange student Bork Ersnes ran for the boys’ team for the first time and was Greene County’s number five runner.
