Last week the West Central Valley softball team announced some exciting news. Senior Kamryn Nourse signed her Letter of Intent to play softball at William Penn University starting next year. She was an integral part of the Wildcats team that advanced into the postseason last summer.

Nourse was one of many on the team that was recognized by the West Central Activities Conference for the softball team. She started and played in all 37 games, making 119 trips to the plate, scoring 37 runs, and hit 42 times. Of those hits, 27 were singles, 11 were doubles, 3 were triples, and 1 was a homerun.

Nourse tallied 30 RBI’s, was walked 11 times, hit by 1 pitch, reached on error 8 times, and was struck out 8 times as well. She recorded a batting average of .353, an on base percentage of .412, and a slugging percentage of .521. She was successful on both of her base steals, had 4 assists, 219 put outs, and a fielding percentage of .982.

Nourse was also able to set a record for the team, by getting 6 RBI’s in a single game, during the game against Des Moines North. She was also named as an Honorable Mention when the West Central Activities Conference made conference team selections.
