The Adair Cass Guthrie Multiple Sclerosis Support Group is hosting a fundraiser to fight back against the devastating disease.
President of the Organization Deb Richter says that MS is a disease that attacks the immune system and also the communication between the brain and the body. Richter says they are having a pulled pork fundraiser to raise awareness while providing support for those impacted by this disease. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio all proceeds will go to a non-profit organization called MS Moments.
“And they help every month with giving us a choice of a gym membership, acupuncture, massage therapy. They have now added yoga, which would be done down in Des Moines, and they pay for that for each one of us every month. So that’s a big thing because people with MS on an average will spend $4 million in their lifetime between The drugs (and) adaptive equipment.”
The ACG MS Warriors Fundraiser will start serving sandwiches around 5pm at the Adair Fire Hall on Saturday. There will also be a bags tournament starting at 6pm with registration at 5:15pm and then a ton of raffle prizes from guns to a full cow. For information click the link here.
