With colder temperatures now around, it’s time for an annual event to help out less fortunate families in Greene County.

Warm Hearts Clothing Drive is currently underway with New Opportunities of Greene County. Coordinator Teresa Lansman tells Raccoon Valley Radio about 85 children in the county are in need of winter coats, gloves, stocking hats, boots and snow pants. She feels times are even tougher for families this year.

“It is amazing when you go to the stores right now with the cost of everything, how much a pair of boots and a coat is for a child to keep them warm over the winter.”

Lansman urges any donations of new or gently used winter clothing items to be dropped off at her office in Jefferson, located at 1401 North Elm Street, which will be accepted until October 20th. Contact Lansman for more information at 515-386-2719.
