
Dallas Center – Grimes boys and girls cross country both competed in a loaded 4A field on Wednesday afternoon in Council Bluffs with hopes of making it to the state meet, and DCG boys found two state qualifiers and the girls one while both teams just missed finishing 4th.
The boys were able to find a pair of state qualifiers in junior Jack Every who was able to finish with an 11th place finish and a time of 16 minutes 55 seconds, and junior AJ Angus, who got a 14th place finish and time of 17 minutes 8 seconds. The girls were able to grab a solid finish by sophomore Maddie Stevens, who got a time of 20 minutes 44 seconds to make it to the final race of the year.
The boys finished with 78 points with Dowling Catholic, West Des Moines Valley, and Sioux City North finishing ahead. The girls finished with 113 team points with the teams making it Waukee, Dowling Catholic, and West Des Moines Valley.
For the three runners, they will be competing on Saturday, October 29th, with the girls to compete 2 pm and the boys at 2:45 pm in Fort Dodge, as they will wrap up the season on the grandest stage in Iowa.
