Halloween is here and the 2022 Greene County High School football season has come to an end. An extremely young team won the Class 2A District 8 title at 5-0, won its first round playoff game and lost in the round of 16 last Friday 43-7 at Linduska Field last Friday.

In a season of mostly positives, one stat that reared its ugly head in the two losses were turnovers, a part of the game that is difficult to predict prior to kickoff. In losing to Kuemper Catholic at Carroll in week three and to West Lyon on Oct. 28, the Rams turned the ball over three more times than the opponent, and both ended in one-sided losses.

For the nine games prior to last Friday, Greene County had just seven turnovers all season, and went into the WL contest with a plus-11 turnover margin. The Rams turned the ball over four times vs. the Wildcats while collecting just one themselves on a fumble to finish the season with a turnover margin of plus-eight. They were minus-6 in the two losses and plus-14 in the eight victories.
