The Panorama Panthers girls basketball team is less than two weeks away from starting the 2022-23 season.
To get ready for the new season, I sat down with head coach Kylie Boettcher. Every year the Panthers have to deal with new faces and changes. When asked about how new players adapt to their style Coach Boettcher said, “Maybe even more so, just like the pace of that. You know, yeah we’re going to be tough, we’re going to be gritty. We wanna apply pressure wherever we’re at. Whether it’s full court or half court. But just the quick transition. Moving from offense to defense quickly. We say our defense is actually our best offense. Especially now with the shot clock, it’s just going to create more timeliness as far as what we want to do.”
Coach Boettcher would continue, “But the one thing we’ve been stressing, with our up and down pace and wanting to score quickly, that really the shot clock shouldn’t be a hindrance. A lot of the time coming up from the junior high level, even they just play JV. The opponents that you play are a lot quicker, you have to move a little faster. Obviously, the higher levels of game you play, the more competitive it’s going to be. Just that kind of pace and making sure everyone on the floor together can stay with that expectation.”
The Panthers first official game is just under two weeks away. They’ll be opening the season at home against Greene County on November 29th.
