Don Van Gilder as the emcee from 2021 event

The Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County invites everyone to their annual holiday tradition this week.

The Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on Thursday starting at 5:30pm. After Santa Claus lights the tree at the Gardens, kids can then visit with the man himself and either give him their wish list or tell him. Attendees can have cookies and warm apple cider.

Additionally, Thursday evening will also be the kickoff to the “Tagging of the Tree” where anyone is welcomed to share their Christmas wish on a tag and put it on the tree that is just outside the main entrance to the Welcome Center. Christmas wishes are accepted until Friday, December 9th. Two tags will then be taken off of the tree and if yours is selected, you will receive $25 in Chamber checks.

As a reminder, children can always drop off their letters to Santa in a special mailbox that is located this year outside of Warm Wishes on the northeast corner of the downtown square.
