The AC/GC Chargers hosted one of their cross county rivals Friday night for basketball. The Panorama Panthers came to Guthrie Center, and ended up splitting the games with the home team.

The Chargers girls team got things started a little slow, only scoring 6 points in the first quarter, but outscored the Panthers 19-13 in the second quarter, to go into halftime with only a two point deficit, and a score of 25-27. Panorama picked things back up in the third though, and AC/GC only scored 9 points. The fourth quarter was another double digit score, but the Chargers were unable to catch back up with the Panthers after two of their starters fouled out. The game ended with a 47-59 loss for the Chargers.

The boys team got started similarly to the girls game, with AC/GC trailing 10-17 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was a different story though, as the Chargers outscored the Panthers 24-14 and went to the locker room with a 34-31 lead. The play of the game came just before the end of the half. Senior Brock Littler put up a three pointer, but missed the shot. Junior Lance Bunde was able to get the rebound and seemingly float in front of the basket to lay in a finger-roll layup, fractions of a second before the buzzer sounded.

AC/GC came out of halftime and continued the attack, racking up 10 points, and holding Panorama to a single basket at the end of the quarter, to go into the fourth with a 44-33 lead. The final quarter was a little chippy, as both teams had players get up to 4 fouls, but the Chargers were able to hold on and come away with a 53-49 victory.
