It’s the break for the Holidays and the Greene County wrestling team finished December strong with four dual meet victories in as many meets on Tuesday night in Jefferson. Triumphs over Saydel (Des Moines), Nevada, CAM (Anita), and Van Meter, improved Greene County’s dual meet record to 5-6.

The lineup became stronger this week when two-time State Tournament qualifier Gavin Scheuermann was in the lineup for the first time this season. He went 4-0 at 160 lbs., and Scheuermann, Gavyn Winters, Brent Dennhardt, Kale Petersen, and McKinley Robbins, all have had outstanding starts to the season. The “Fierce Five” have combined for 72 victories in December and just five losses. Winters is 18-3 at 106 lbs., and Dennhardt is 13-2 at 145. Petersen is 18-0 at 132 lbs. and Robbins is 19-0 at 138.

The season resumes on Jan. 3 in Jefferson at 6 p.m. with non-conference dual meets against Interstate-35 (Truro) and Woodward-Granger.
