Greene County head boys’ basketball coach Chris Nelson is like any coach when it comes to having the best players on the court- it’s something a coach wants, but doesn’t always get. That’s been a factor in the Rams’ 3-5 record at the break for the holidays, but aside from knee surgery for junior Nathan Behne, the Rams appear to be in good health heading into the Monday, Jan. 2 contest vs. Webster City. Another factor is the Rams have played some good teams and the Lynx will bring a 4-0 record to Greene County High School as the second half of a girl/boy doubleheader on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
Three teams the Rams have lost to 6-0 Roland-Story (Story City), 7-1 Kuemper Catholic (Carroll), and 7-1 Nevada, all by one-sided outcomes. The other losses were to 4-4 Panorama (Panora) and 3-6 PCM (Monroe) when starter Jesse Miller and reserves Brayden Roberts and Trey Schilling were missing. Those losses were by four and five points. The victories have come vs. Ogden (3-5), South Hamilton (Jewell) (5-2), and West Marshall (State Center) 3-5.
In all, the eight Greene County opponents are 38-24 for a winning percentage of 61.3%.
