Greene County wrestling senior Dakota Mobley suffered a concussion the first weekend of the season, but he’s back in the practice room at the middle school. Mobley was asked about the effect having State Champions Kale Petersen and McKinley Robbins in the room has had. “It makes the room a lot more competitive and they like to push everybody around them and that helps everybody compete a little harder.” When asked if he has seen things from Petersen or Robbins that he would like to incorporate in his own style of wrestling, he replied, “A whole lotta stuff!”
Petersen has a sixth place and first place finish when he was at West Fork (Sheffield) in Class 1A before transferring to Greene County at the start of his junior year of high school. He placed first at 120 lbs. in 2A for the Rams last February and has committed to wrestle for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Robbins has been a State finalist all three previous years of high school, finishing first in 2o21 at 1 20 lbs., and second in 2020 at 106 lbs. and second in ’22 at 132 lbs. He’s an Oregon State wrestling recruit.
The Rams were to have had a home triangular meet on Jan. 3, but that has been cancelled. Activities Director Dave Wright picked up a triangular on Thursday, Dec. 5 that will now be the first action of 2023 for the Rams. It’s at Ft. Dodge St. Edmond vs. the Gaels and Iowa Falls-Alden starting at 6 p.m. Greene County wrestling’s first 2023 tournament is set for the Atlantic Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 7.
