
Dallas Center-Grimes boy and girl basketballs teams took on a doubleheader at home against Indianola Friday.
It started first with the Lady Mustangs striving for another winning streak but they had to take down a Indianola Indians team led by Emily Naughton. The Mustangs only gave up four points in the first quarter but that would quickly change with an Indianola 18 to eight run which would land them in front during intermission 24 to 22. In the third quarter, the ball started finding the net for Finley Fitzgerald and Emma Minor and DCG went on a 22 to 5 run to give the Lady Mustangs the big lead 40 to 29. That lead would not change and the DCG girls would win 52 to 41 collecting their fifth conference win and improve to (9-2) on the season. Minor would score 16 and Fitzgerald added 10 points.
The Dallas Center-Grimes boys were looking the end the hopes of Indianola going undefeated this season. This game would be evenly matched especially without the Indians stop scorer Drew Kingery. The teams traded baskets going back and forth with double digit lead changes in the game. After the first quarter the game was separated by three points in favor of Indianola, 11 to 9. After the first period the game would be tied at halftime 19 to 19 and then tied at the end of the third quarter 32 to 32. The Indians point guard Dakota Heimbaugh had the game clinching bucket to separate both teams with .3 seconds left and it gave Indianola the victory.
The final score was 46 to 45 will Dallas Center-Grimes boys falling to (5-2) with a conference record of (2-2). DCG will be back in action versus Ankeny on the road on Tuesday and that can can be heard on our KDLS-2 mobile app.
