The Perry School District is going to make a change to their elementary reading series.

Perry Superintendent Clark Wicks explains they will have their reading selection committee, made up of educators in the elementary school, look at a number of reading series to find the best one and then make a recommendation to the school board. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio they’ve had their current elementary reading series for the last eight years and it’s time for a change.

“Just like anything we learn better methods, better curriculum and I guess to develop as many successful readers as we possibly can. So there is always time to update and again get that growth mindset going.”

Wicks says that the district plans on having a new reading curriculum by the month of July to present to the school board and implement by the next school year.
