Coach Zach Beekman’s Greene County wrestling team faced Heart of Iowa Activities Conference opponent Perry as well as Coon Rapids-Bayard in non-conference action on Tuesday night in Perry. The Rams went 2-0 after stopping the Crusaders 54-13 to start the night and finishing with a 45-30 win over the Blue Jays. The Rams are 3-0 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference action and 9-7 overall after starting the season 1-6 in dual meets.
Rams going 2-0 on the night were Jacob Harmeyer with two falls at 113/120, Crew Conner with a 6-3 decision and a fall at 126, Kale Petersen a forfeit and fall and 132, McKinley Robbins a forfeit and fall at 138/145, Brent Dennhardt with two falls at 145, Jackson Turner with a 6-3 decision and a forfeit at 152, and Gavin Scheuermann with two falls at 160. Dakota Mobley was 1-0 with a 6-0 decision at 138. Marcus Ball at 220 went 1-1, as did Gavyn Winters at 106/113.
A trip to Jewell tomorrow night will have the Rams facing South Hamilton and PCM (Monroe) in a pair of HOIAC matches with action starting at 6 o’clock.
