An annual fundraiser for this year’s Greene County High School Junior/Senior Prom is happening soon.
The Junior Class Chili Supper Fundraiser is Tuesday from 5-8pm in the high school commons area. The menu includes chili, cinnamon rolls, and a beverage for a free will donation. Carry-outs will be available from 5-6pm in the north side of the commons. Junior Class President Gavin VanderLinden talks about why they chose to host their fundraiser during a home varsity wrestling meet.
“Usually it is during a (home) basketball game but since we don’t have as many home wrestling meets as we do home basketball games, they draw a larger crowd because there are people from all over who come because a bunch of schools go there. So with a bigger crowd, you know, that’s more people that can come to the fundraiser.”
All proceeds go toward prom and Addison Gallagher is a member of the junior class and says this year’s prom theme is “Tropical.” She talks about how they came to that decision.
“Well we had a lot of people from our junior class have a meeting during seminar time and we had different ideas. But we had a voting at the end and we just voted on this one because a lot of people enjoyed the idea of it.”
The Junior/Senior Prom is April 15th.
