The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Thursday.
The Board approved the sheriff’s quarterly report of fees for October through December of 2022 for $55,942. The Board then reviewed several county department budget requests for the 2024 fiscal year. During the sheriff’s budget review, Sheriff Jack Williams noted that there was going to be an increase in dispatching fees that the county would get from the city of Jefferson as well as a $6,000 decrease in revenues for jail room and board. As for expenses, Williams requested a four-percent increase in salaries for dispatchers, five-percent for jailers and five-percent for deputies, for an overall increase of $46,000.
The other county departments that presented their proposed budgets included the law enforcement center entity board, county recorder, human services, veterans services and general assistance. No action was taken by the Board following each budget proposal.
