Zach Nunn was sworn into office as Iowa’s Third Congressional US Representative in early January and now he has introduced his first bill.
US Representative Zach Nunn says he has proposed a constitutional amendment that is intended to balance the federal budget, curve overspending and government involvement in the lives of Iowans. Nunn explains that government overspending in the last two years is affecting everyday items for Americans.
“When there are trillions of dollars in federal dollars that are not being well executed, that are flooding the market, that cause not just out of control inflation for families, but they cause massive supply chain shortages.”
Representative Nunn’s bill would require a three-fifths roll call vote of each chamber of Congress to increase public debt limits along with a majority vote to increase revenue and require the President to submit a balanced budget to Congress annually.
“Look, this is a thing that every Iowa family does at the end of the week, it’s something that a small business is doing every month balancing their budget so they can reinvest in the community. The federal government needs to be doing the same but it’s not to the tune of $31 trillion plus dollars.”
