The West Central Valley School Board met in regular session Wednesday.

In the Superintendent Report, Rusty Shockley gave an update to the Board on repairs to the Dexter Elementary building. The water pipe in the ceiling had been broken for quite some time over Christmas weekend, as it’s estimated that the break gushed 45,000 gallons of water into the building. The company the district hired to do repairs is making good progress though, the drywall is almost finished, carpet should be available on Monday, and Shockley is hopeful to return classes to the building around February 6th.

Shockley also presented an initial drawing of the 2023-2024 calendar, and gave an update on some tech purchases. The student teaching agreement with Grand View University was approved, along with the request for vehicle use during the summer made by School Resource Officer and Stuart Police Sergeant Katie Guisinger.
