An Ames woman was arrested following an alleged January incident at Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson.

According to court documents, at 4:46pm on January 15th, a man was playing a slot machine when he won a jackpot of $1,231.22. Thirty-one-year-old Katie Wisecup of Ames was playing a machine next to him and slid over to his machine and claimed the jackpot. Wisecup also signed an IRS-W9 form for the winnings.

Each state-ran casino in Iowa has an Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation agent on site and when that individual reviewed the surveillance video, the man was the one who won the jackpot. However, when his identification was run through the Iowa Department of Administrative Services Offset Program, he actually owed the state of Iowa over $24,000. The jackpot winnings were applied to his debts with the program.

Wisecup was charged with a Class D Felony for gambling-avoid setoff and an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree fraudulent practice. She was arrested Monday and was booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
