The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
During open forum, Greene County Extension Director Lori Mannel talked about the annual shareholder report of the previous year’s activities, programs and events.
Then, Assistant County Attorney Laura Snider gave an update. She said there are two juvenile offenders who are signed up to do community service at the new animal shelter. She also talked about last week’s jury trial that she prosecuted. She told the Board about giving the criminal defendant a plea offer for a theft crime that was enhanceable due to his previous crimes. Snider noted that when he rejected that, the case went to trial. Right before the jury came back after they deliberated, Snider said the defendant left the courthouse and is at-large. The jury came back with a guilty verdict for the aggravated misdemeanor charge and there is a warrant for his arrest.
The Board then approved a pay for hourly patient contact time and on-call time for some part time ambulance staff, including Lori Harrah, Bethany Hauptmann, Dick Moranville, Dan Moranville and Tyler Lux. The on-call pay increase was to $5 per hour and the patient contact time rate was increased by $1.50. Ambulance Director Michelle Madsen wanted to give these increases to these employees because they give her dedicated part time hours on a consistent basis and wanted to reward that kind of commitment.
The Board also approved the wage publication report for the 2022 fiscal year, the county treasurer’s semi-annual report from July 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022 as presented, along with an agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation for the city highway bridge program project on South Grimmell Road where the county would be the lead entity.
