It’s the renewal of a longtime sports rivalry when the Greene County varsity basketball teams visit the Perry teams tonight. The action can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 5;45 p.m., the girls’ game at six and the boys’ contest to follow. The Perry girls and Greene County boys were winners in the first meeting earlier this month.
The Jayettes are 4-12 overall and 2-9 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference while the Rams are 0-16, 0-11 in girls’ basketball. The Rams are 7-9, 6-5 in boys’ basketball and Perry is 4-13, 2-9. The Rams have played just one girls’ game this season with a final margin of fewer than 10 points. The Greene County boys have been in three straight games that went right down to the closing seconds, including last Friday’s 66-64 home loss to West Marshall (State Center).
