As the Iowa Legislative Session continues, Greene County residents will have an opportunity to talk with their elected officials this weekend.

The Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County are hosting the first “Meet Your Legislators” forum of the 90th Iowa General Assembly on Saturday from 10-11am at the Welcome Center. District 24 Senator Jesse Green (R-Boone) and House District 47 Representative Carter Nordman (R-Panora) will be on-hand to give updates from their respective chambers, followed by submitted questions from the audience. The event will be moderated by Jefferson resident Rick Morain.

Representative Nordman invites everyone to come out to the forum.

“We will try to get through as many topics, as many questions as possible, we’re happy to entertain any conversations. One of my most important jobs of being a legislator is listening to my constituents and forums is a part of that.” 

Senator Green echoes Nordman’s thoughts.

“The constituents in Jefferson I always appreciate this forum. They ask great questions and it gives me the opportunity to dig deeper on some issues that maybe I otherwise wouldn’t dig deeper on. So I really look forward to this. It’s definitely a much needed part of being a legislator is to answer the questions and just listen to see what’s on people’s minds. I encourage everybody to come out and take part in it.”   

Subsequent forums are scheduled for March 11th and April 8th.
