It’s National School Counselor Week and it’s a time to highlight those individuals who support students in school.

Paton-Churdan Principal Annie Smith tells Raccoon Valley Radio that guidance counselor Libby Towers helps kids at all grade levels within their school building, helps start different clubs, and shows compassion to anyone she talks with. Along with that, Smith says Towers also coaches middle school sports, as well as the National Honor Society Advisor. Smith is appreciative to have someone like Towers as part of their school district.

“She is such a bright light here. She really does it all. I don’t know if everybody truly understands the impact that she has here. But she really has her fingers in everything and we are so much better off for that.”

Smith adds that Towers is also a great community leader, as she helped spearhead getting new playground equipment at the Churdan Park to coaching other youth sports outside of the school district.
