The Perry City Council approved a notice to dispose of outdated or abandoned equipment that is causing a storage space concern.

Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson says that the Perry Police Department has accumulated unclaimed bicycles that were either found or confiscated and could not be claimed from the owner. Peterson explains that is causing a storage space issue and a burden to taxpayers. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that there will be a sale to get rid of these bikes.

“I know as soon as that bike shed gets full, (Police) Chief (Eric) Vaughn gets itchy to start getting rid of some of those bikes. Sometimes we do it every year depending on how many bikes we pick up, sometimes it’s every other year, but definitely a tradition.”

A public hearing will be held on March 6th at 6pm in the Towncraft Building before the disposal process can begin.
