Greene County and Woodward-Granger face each other tonight in the opening round of Class 2A boys’ district basketball. The game is at Greene County High School gym in Jefferson at 7 p.m. with coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

The Rams are 9-12 and the Hawks are 10-11. The Rams were 7-7 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference while the Hawks went 5-11 in the West Central Activities Conference. Tonight’s winner plays Kuemper Catholic in Carroll on the Knights’ home floor this Thursday at 7 p.m. Aaron Lyons is the head coach of the Hawks and his Dad, Dean is an assistant. The younger Lyons is an East Greene graduate and both father and son are former assistant coaches for the Rams. Chris Nelson, a Jefferson-Scranton grad, is the head coach of the Rams.
