The Stuart Public Library is preparing for a new event at the end of the month.

Rachel Majerus from the library says that a group called Nine Square Feet will be bringing their Seed Swap and Giveaway event to Stuart. She says Nine Square Feet is based out of Des Moines, and has been running the program for the last few years, but that this year the group branched out to libraries outside the metro. Majerus tells Raccoon Valley Radio what will go on at the Seed Swap.

“Like a traditional Seed Swap, swappers are encouraged to bring the seed(s) that they saved from plants grown last year to swap and share with the community. But unlike the traditional Seed Swap, every adult attendee can select some free seeds, (or) seed packets to take home, and we’ll even have some for kids as well.”

Majerus adds that the free to attend event will be from 10am to noon on February 25th. Stuart Public Library isn’t the only one participating in the event on the 25th, as there will be four Des Moines area libraries and 26 other libraries across the state participating, including the Greenfield Public Library. For more information on the event, visit Nine Square Feet on their website or Facebook page, both of which are listed below.
