
Humboldt used a 37 point third quarter to put away Perry 89-66 in the opening round of the class 3A Substate 2. The Wildcats led 39-29 at halftime but exploded for the 37 points in a six minute span to put the game away. The Wildats outscored Perry 37-13 in the third quarter. The Wildcats took an astounding 77 shots on the night, with 44 of them coming from 3 point land.
The difference in the game was not the potent Humboldt three point attack, but rather the Wildcats ability to rebound the ball. Humboldt outrebound Perry 53-18, with an eye popping 29 offensive rebounds resulting in over 65 second chance points. Humboldt connected on 13 of 40 from three point land.
Holden Smith led Perry with 16 points while Zander Mahler added 15 points and Owen Myers 12. Perry closes out the season with a mark of 8-15.
