2020 Greene County High School graduate Carter Morton of Jefferson is scheduled to have a very busy Missouri Valley Conference indoor track & field meet today and tomorrow at Gately Park in Chicago. The third year athlete at the University of Northern Iowa leads the conference in the heptathlon with a score of 5,698 points earlier this month at the U. of Nebraska Frank Sevigne Invitational. He also ranks high in three open events; third in both the high jump and triple jump, and fifth in the pole vault. Depending on the number of open events he actually competes in, Morton could rack up as many as 10 events over two days of competition.
The UNI men were picked to finish third among 12 conference teams in a pre-meet poll. The Panthers were chosen sixth in the women’s poll.
