This weekend is the Greene County High School Vocal Music Department’s performance of the spring musical.
Vocal Director David Heupel says it will be “The Addams Family” and he talks about the decision behind doing this particular musical.
“With some of the musicals out there, tend to take an older idea or a (tv) show that’s been out there and then turn it into a musical format. When I narrowed down what shows we might do, one of the ones was ‘Legally Blonde,’ we looked at ‘High School Musical,’ and ‘The Addams Family.’ You know, it’s like different episodes of The Addams Family.”
Additionally, Band Director Wes Anderson will direct the live pit musicians as well. Not only is Heupel excited about the cast of the musical, he’s also thrilled about the set that will be used on stage.
“I’m pretty sure this is as elaborate of a set that we’ve built. It’s a two-story house, inside the house. We’ve got some things that are going to, they call it ‘flying,’ we’ve got a couple of drops that going to fly. That’s when we use the flying system to bring things in, up and down on the stage. We’ll have a fence that’s going to go in and out and so we’re really taking advantage of our facilities.”
Performances are at 7pm on Friday and Saturday and 2pm on Sunday at the high school auditorium. Tickets are $10 per person and $8 for students, which can be purchased at the high school main office or at the door.
