Several Greene County High School students are moving onto the state individual speech contest.
This past Saturday, seven students from Greene County competed at the Iowa High School Speech Association District Individual Contest. Speech Coach Kelley Gray tells Raccoon Valley Radio Billy Wright had two events qualify, including radio news and expository address. Other students joining Wright for state were Bella Linberg for prose, Gavin Vander Linden in musical theater, Allee Hinote for poetry, Ava Schilling with acting, and Esther Van Horn in prose. Additionally, Ilse Hooper performed prose and did not qualify for state.

Paton-Churdan sent four students to the district contest and those included Callie Martin, Phoenix Hartman, Leah McCormick, and Autumn Consier. However, all received a Division II-rating and will not advance to state.
Students that received a Division I-rating qualified for state. The qualifiers from Greene County will head to Ames High School for state on March 11th.
