Last week a Greenfield man was arrested for an alleged February incident.

According to court documents, Greenfield Police began an investigation on February 22nd when they spoke with the victim about his vehicle being operated without his permission. A witness told authorities about the alleged incident that happened on February 19th, in which the vehicle was found at Nodaway Lake.

The witness stated that they saw another individual who was operating the vehicle, along with another male inside, 40-year-old Dustin Benge. Court documents show that Benge threatened the witness if she didn’t get out of the vehicle. The witness left and walked home.

The vehicle was parked at the witness’s residence when she returned home, but it was soaked in gasoline. The owner of the vehicle said the insurance company claimed the vehicle to be a total loss and estimated the damage of the 2009 Buick Lucerne to be about $4,700. The witness also told officers that a jump pack was missing from the vehicle and that a text was made to someone who was an alleged partner of Benge that said the jump pack was still in their possession.

Benge has been arrested and was charged with a Class D Felony for second degree criminal mischief, a serious misdemeanor for fourth degree theft and a simple misdemeanor for third degree harassment. He was booked into the Adair County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
