Earlier this week the Iowa High School Athletic Association released 2023 and ’24 District football assignments and Greene County is in Class 2A District 8 with five others. One of those is Southeast Valley (Gowrie) and Caden Duncan, head coach of the Rams, graduated from Prairie Valley in Gowrie, now known at Southeast Valley. Duncan’s wife, Lindsey, also graduated from there and two current Greene County football assistant coaches currently reside in that district.

The coach said that game may have a little extra meaning to him because of it being the place he’s from. The Rams and Jaguars do compete in some other sports, but this will be the first varsity football contest.

Kuemper Catholic (Carroll), Des Moines Christian, Roland-Story (Story City), and Saydel (Des Moines) are the others in 2A District 8.
