A reminder that tomorrow is a special program with the Greene County Historical Society.

The Historical Society examines the history of broom making in the county, including when Jefferson had two broom factories in the late 19th Century. Speakers include Shannon Bardole-Foley, the daughter of Dick Bardole of Rippey, will demonstrate how to make a variety of brooms, including house, whisk, hearth and cake testers. Bardole-Foley worked as a summer college intern at Living History Farms in Des Moines and gained the knowledge of broom making. The Historical Society Program Chair Margaret Hamilton will also go over the history of broom making in Jefferson.

The free Sunday program starts at 2pm at the historical museum in Jefferson.
