The outdoor track and field season has started for many high school programs and Dallas Center-Grimes girls team participated in the Waukee Early Bird Meet Tuesday.

Sophomore Maddy Stevens stepped up in the 800 Meter Run and finished second place with a time of 2 minutes 31 seconds. The Mustang 4×400 Meter Relay team made an impression as they finished in third place with a time of 4 minutes and 22 seconds. Sophomore Maddie Schmitz reached the podium in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 26.76 seconds and junior Asia Jahangir just missed placing in fifth with a time of 27 seconds. For DCG field events, Kileigh Lachacz made a statement with a second place finish in the Shot Put and Discus Throw. For other events for Dallas Center-Grimes will be happening today with the tennis season kicking off at Waukee Northwest, girls golf will have a scrimmage at Saydel and boys track and field will perform at Waukee High School.
