The month of April is a time were some children’s advocacy groups work to promote ways to prevent child abuse.
Prevent Child Abuse America and it’s network of state chapters, including Prevent Child Abuse Iowa are starting this years awareness and impact campaign, with the theme of “Building Together: Prevention in Partnership.” Extreme stress and uncertainty can increase the risk of abuse and neglect aimed at children, which can be prevented before it occurs. All communities benefit when families and children at risk of child abuse and neglect receive the support they need to prevent any abuse that may occur.
Prevent Child Abuse Iowa lists some ways that community members can help to raise awareness. Friday is Wear Blue Day, and Prevent Child Abuse Iowa asks that to show support for children and families, individuals wear blue. They also ask that people follow them on social media, and encourage family members to do the same, and use the hashtags listed in this story online.
