The Dallas County Public Health Department has started to celebrate National Public Health Week by promoting the importance of health
Health Navigation Coordinator Ann Cochran says that this week is an opportunity to draw attention to all the services the health department has to offer. Cochran says that there are some misconceptions many have with services the department provides.
“So we are able to test and treat people for the sexually transmitted diseases, the ones that are airborne or waterborne. And we do much more than that. A lot of public health has to do with prevention. So we talk to people a lot about what you can do to improve your health through walking, eating better, just paying attention to things like not smoking, staying away from toxic chemicals, things that are going to threaten our well being.”
The Dallas County Board of Supervisors signed a proclamation declaring Public Health Week in Dallas County from April 3rd-9th. To learn more about the Dallas County Health Department click here.
