It’s ISU Extension and Outreach Week and the local Dallas County office will celebrate and thank those who have supported their work.
Dallas County Extension and Outreach Director Ann Torbert says that this week they will have a social media campaign that focuses on thanking and appreciating the efforts of staff and board members along with volunteers.
“Well, the beauty of extension week is we take time to be real intentional about looking at the volunteers that help support what we do. We can’t do half of our work without the volunteers, and some of those folks are volunteers. We have our master gardeners, which many folks are very much aware of. Even our council members, while they are elected officials, don’t receive any kind of payment at all.”
Torbert says they also had their staff pick certain individuals they would like to recognize and they will deliver homemade focaccia bread. The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Week is from April 17-22 and usually celebrated by all 100 county extension offices.
