West Central Valley School Board recently met in session.

The Board reviewed job descriptions for the superintendent, principals, director of teaching and learning, activities director and supervisor of business, before moving on to personnel. They hired Will Gormally as the high school social sciences and head high school baseball coach, hired Ethan Calvert as elementary school principal, hired Leanna Carson as high school special education teacher, accepted the resignations of the school nurse, preschool teacher and an elementary teacher, and terminated the facilities supervisor. All those hired are on contract for the 2023-24 school year.

The Board also approved a 12 month contract with Southwest Iowa Driver’s Education for driver’s education services, the adjusted 2022-23 calendar, 2023 graduate list, and specs for the lighting project for the sports center with the addition of a completion date penalty clause. They then approved the 2023-24 certified staff agreement, certified staff contract/extended day contract issuance, and classified staff letter of assignment issuance.
